Source: New York City Department of Education, Enrollment and Capacity in Contracted Early Care and Education Sites (SY 2019/2020, reported as of October 31st 2019). Unpublished data, obtained through CCC's data request with the DOE.
Definitions: Contracted care for children under five-year-old includes: contracted subsidized EarlyLearn and NYC Head Start and universal programs to provide Pre-K and 3-K for All.
Notes: Community districts and boroughs total do not sum up to the city total because capacity data for family settings is only available by Family Child Care (FCC) Network that family day care sites are affiliated with and not for individual sites. This does not allow aggregation of family settings by more granular geographies. (Citywide FCC Network capacity is 10,088 seats).
